Visualization Toolsets

Akuna provides two different toolsets for visualizing simulation results:



The AkunaViz Toolset is an internal plotting toolset used for creating x-y line plots, histograms and scatter plots from observation data generated during the simulation. This observation data must be specified within the simulation toolset at runtime, and will contain output over time at a particular point or plane within the simulation domain. The toolset is designed to plot results from multiple simulation runs so that users can quickly analyze results for ensemble simulations.


A second visualization toolset is used for plotting spatial data that has been output during a simulation at user-specified times. To this end, VisIt has been adapted to run within the Akuna framework. The VisIt software is an external, third-party software package that is used for generating plots on two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) meshes. Within Akuna, the VisIt Toolset is designed so that users can quickly generate visualizations, animate them through time, and manipulate them with commonly-used operators.
